Don't be Fooled by "Green" Products

Are Green Cleaning Products and Disinfectants really more Effective than Alcohol-based Disinfectants? We take a look...

A clean environment is every mom, dad, teacher, manager or owner's dream, but just as we evolve as people, it is important to take note that germs are also evolving and "green" doesn't always mean safe.

Research has identified dangers associated with a few ingredients in common cleaning products and consumers have often voiced some concerns regarding the potential dangers associated with cleaning products.

The "green" cleaning product boom that claim to use more environmentally and health-friendly ingredients has seen a significant boom in production over the last few years, but is a "green" product just as effective as an alcohol-based product?

Recent studies have shown that "green" products often contain the same dangerous chemicals as their conventional chemical-based products.

"Of the most prevalent VOCs, 80% are the same between green and regular products, and of the most prevalent classified as toxic or hazardous, 75% are the same between green and regular products."

The study further found that: "Given lack of ingredient information, consumers may seek out products with claims and certifications of green or organic, in hopes to reduce potential risks. But well-intentioned efforts could be hindered, because product claims can be misleading or unsubstantiated."

From the above it is clear that "green" products might not be as non-toxic as previously thought.

Many people shy away from alcohol-based products, but another study done by the World Health Organization, has proved that alcohol is the most effective against Viruses. In addition Dr. Frank Bures found that alcohol based disinfectants and rubbing alcohol, ethyl and isopropyl, can kill several bacteria in 10 seconds or fewer in the lab, including Staph aureus, Strep pyogenes, E. coli, Salmonella typhosa, and Pseudomonas species, some of the bad actors in infections. For M. tuberculosis, it may take as long as five minutes of contact.

An alcohol-based hand sanitizer is also on the preferred list of medicines of the World Health Organization as opposed to a "green" product.

All our Sprinkle Spray products are alcohol-based and one can therefore rest assured that up to 99.9% of bacteria at your facility is actually killed. No residual moisture is left behind with our application method, providing peace of mind that our disinfectant stays active for days. In addition we do not spray over any person when your facility is serviced weekly which offers even greater peace of mind that no person's immune system will be adversely affected.

Even if a company claims to use a non-toxic, all-natural, "green" product that can be sprayed over people with no adverse effects, the recent studies outlined in this article should give pause to the thought: "Is green all it seems?"

Think about it...when last have you seen a "green" product at a hospital or doctor's room?

Contact Sprinkle Spray today to get your facility properly disinfected with an alcohol-based product and an application method that has been proven to be most effective in killing bacteria with no adverse risks to any person's immune system.
