Hand, Foot & Mouth Disease

Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (HFMD) is a common viral illness primarily affecting infants and young children, though adults can contract it too. It is caused by different viruses from the Enterovirus group, most commonly the Coxsackievirus. Despite its alarming name, HFMD is generally mild and resolves on its own within 7 to 10 days.

Symptoms to Watch For:

  • Fever: Often the first sign of infection.

  • Sore Throat: Discomfort when swallowing.

  • Painful Sores: Small red spots or blisters in the mouth, on the hands, feet and sometimes on the buttocks or legs.

  • Fatigue and Irritability: Particularly in young children.

  • Loss of Appetite: Due to painful swallowing.

Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease is usually mild but highly contagious. Proper hygiene, supportive care and early isolation of infected individuals can help control the spread and ensure a speedy recovery.

Being part of the Sprinkle Spray disinfectant fogging program will greatly reduce the spread of HFMD and other germs at your home, office, school, doctor's rooms, etc.
