The Life Cycle of the Flu

Writer: Sprinkle SpraySprinkle Spray

The life cycle of the flu begins when the influenza virus enters the body, typically through the nose, mouth, or eyes after being inhaled from respiratory droplets of an infected person. Once inside, the virus attaches to cells in the respiratory tract and begins to replicate rapidly, spreading to nearby cells and triggering an immune response.

Symptoms such as fever, cough, body aches and fatigue usually appear within one to four days of exposure. The immune system fights the infection by producing antibodies and activating white blood cells, which work to eliminate the virus. Most people recover within a week or two, though the flu can lead to complications like pneumonia in vulnerable individuals.

After recovery, the immune system retains some memory of the virus, providing temporary immunity, but because influenza viruses mutate frequently, new strains emerge each year, requiring updated vaccines and leaving individuals susceptible to reinfection.

Disinfectant fogging is an excellent way to achieve full room coverage every time and to ensure that all areas are reached evenly, limiting the spread of germs.
